In the studio, there is a directness of mark-making where Stuart values fluency and proficiency. Stuart produces an abundant amount of quick sketches as he develops his hand and eye to the technique. Minimising the elements and honing in on the desired essence to create the final painting.

'The Soho Strut series' is a giclee print initially painted in gouache paint on handmade paper. The artwork comes printed on a choice of Hahnemühle PhotoRag paper or Hahnemühle Torchon paper or Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta paper. Stuart recommends Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper for its fine soft surface. Each print adopts certain formal aspects of the individuality of the human figure.
